Ice Rink

The ice rink is a 85' x 197' ice sheet. Schedule is subject to change. Call our recorded hotline (608) 262-4756 for a current listing of the Open Hockey schedule. The ice rink is closed throughout the summer.

NOTE: OPEN HOCKEY and OPEN FIGURE SKATING SESSIONS ARE FOR AGE 18 AND OLDER - PROOF OF AGE IS REQUIRED IF REQUESTED BY STAFF.

Shell ice rink

Important Policies
  1. The first two (2) goalies to attend each open hockey session will be admitted at no charge, however, they must pay the rental fee if they need to use rental equipment.
  2. Helmets are required for all hockey sessions and may be rented from the front desk for $2.00 (ID required).
  3. UW Faculty/Staff, Guest students, and their Spouse/Domestic partners must pay the Recreation Membership fee and present their valid UW ID card to the desk staff to receive the discounted rate for skating. Those who have not purchased a Recreation Membership will be required to pay the General Public rate.
  4. Participation in this program is strictly voluntary. The Sports Center is not responsible for injuries.
  5. Instruction during recreational skating, open figure skating, or open hockey sessions by skating professionals is strictly prohibited.
  6. Staff have the authority to stop any activity that they feel creates a maintenance concern or safety hazard (e.g. based on crowd size). This includes jumping.
  7. Skating direction during recreational skating sessions is at the discretion of staff on duty.
  8. Skaters must patch toe pick holes with ice provided.
