Overview.

Our Professional Internship program provides an opportunity to apply and build on your academic knowledge while you advance your professional and technical skills in the workplace. Plus, you'll get to work alongside one of the fastest growing, future-thinking, creatively-inclined professional teams in the country! Program Goals.

The goals of the Professional Internship program are:
  • To provide interns with the experience upon which to build professional careers and practice the application of skills
  • To allow interns to apply, evaluate, test, and integrate academic knowledge and theoretical concepts in a work setting
  • To develop and expand interns' knowledge about themselves and their professional abilities, goals, and career interests in a work setting
  • To expand interns' awareness of the university campus and the field of campus recreation
  • To provide interns with experience in the disciplined and discriminatory use of evidence in making decisions and solving problems in a work setting
  • To enhance the perspective of the Division by bringing in novel perspective and creative ideas
  • To leverage specialized strengths and skills sets of the intern in order to augment the abilities of the professional staff

Aquatics Intern.

The Aquatics Intern at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will gain valuable aquatic experience by assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of all aquatic related programs and services. 

Competitive Sports Intern.

 

Apply by April 17.

The Competitive Sports Intern at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will gain valuable campus recreation and leadership experience by having active involvement in the overall program development, programming and evaluation of personnel. The intern will gain leadership experience in Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs programming, marketing, financial management, facility operations and personnel management, all while serving as a Rec Sports ambassador to the UW-Madison campus and community. 

Facility Reservation and Special Events Intern.

The Facility Reservations and Events Intern at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Recreational Sports will gain valuable experience in facility scheduling & contracting, event management, and development of future scheduling procedures for new facilities. This intern will play an integral role in the day to day management of the Division of Rec Sports facilities and events.

Fitness Intern.

The Fitness/Wellness Intern at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will gain valuable fitness programming experience by having active involvement in the social, mental, and physical wellness opportunities on campus. The intern will gain leadership experience by assisting in the management of the personal training and strength and conditioning program, while serving as a Rec Sports ambassador to the UW-Madison campus and community.
