GUIDELINES.

Members.

  • Participants must present proper University of Wisconsin - Madison and/or Recreational Sports identification to obtain access to all facilities
  • Participants must be at least 18 years of age to purchase a membership or guest pass
  • The following are prohibited:
    • Attempting to gain access into any Recreational Sports facility with an ID other than your own
    • Allowing another person to use your ID to gain access into Recreational Sports facilities
    • Attempting to sneak someone inside emergency exit doors or other points of access not designated as a main entry
    • Exiting through emergency exit doors during a non-emergency
  • Members are responsible for any damage they have caused to equipment, whether intentional or accidental
  • Members demonstrating signs of intoxication or impairment due to illicit drug use will be denied access to recreation facilities and programs

Guests.

  • Each member is entitled to three guests per day
  • All participants and guests must be at least 18 years of age
  • Photo ID is required from all guests and must include name, photo, and date of birth
  • Failure to comply with the guidelines for guests may result in revocation of the guest and/or member’s privileges, a guest’s access to recreational facilities, and/or disciplinary action
  • Guest passes may not be solicited

Equipment/Towel/Locker Room.

  • Unauthorized photography and use of recording devices is strictly prohibited
  • All participants must be out of the locker room at closing
  • Personal locks left on daily use lockers overnight will be cut; Contents can be retrieved from the Towel Room for a $15.00 fee; If not claimed within 60 days, the contents will be disposed of
  • A University of Wisconsin - Madison and/or Recreational Sports identification must be presented to check out equipment
  • Equipment must be returned the same day it is checked out and should be returned 10 minutes before closing
  • Members may not share lockers. Any locker holder found sharing will be asked to relinquish his or her locker with no refund given due to policy violation. Lockers are rented with the intent that it is a secure location to store a member’s personal belongings. Sharing this space compromises this security.
  • All lockers are the property of UW-Rec Sports. Rec Sports Staff reserves the right to check lockers to resolve safety/security concerns. All affected locker holders will be notified should this occur.

Activity Spaces.

  • The following items are prohibited in all of the Division’s facilities: weapons and firearms of any kind, tobacco products, electronic cigarettes or vaping devices, alcohol, skateboards, rollerblades/skates, electronic “hoverboards” and cycling devices (indoor facilities), balloons (indoor facilities), pets with the exception of service animals, use of electronic equipment such as stereos, radios, amplifiers, speakers and musical instruments that violate a standard of quiet conducive to recreational activity or which disrupts other users
  • Appropriate athletic footwear is required in all activity areas
    • Open-toed shoes, street shoes or shoes that mark the floors are prohibited
  • Water is allowed in a sealed container; all other food and drinks are prohibited
  • Shirts that cover the torso must be worn at all times
  • Jeans or any clothing with zippers or rivets are prohibited
  • Reservations may be made for racquetball courts, badminton courts, and volleyball courts up to three days in advance during designated open rec times
  • Back-to-back reservations are prohibited
  • Recreational Sports staff will be responsible for setting up and taking down volleyball and futsal equipment; only authorized personnel will be permitted to access this equipment
  • Group Fitness Spaces:
    • Participants must have a valid Group Fitness Membership or Drop-in pass and present proper University of Wisconsin - Madison and/or Recreational Sports identification to obtain access to all Group Fitness classes
    • Drop-in Group Fitness passes are for one class only

Pools.

  • A lifeguard must be present before entering the water.
  • No diving into a lap pool.
  • Do not enter the pool if you have a communicable disease or an open cut.
  • Shower before entering the pool and after use of the toilet facilities.
  • Do not run or engage in rough play in the pool area.
  • Proper swimwear is required.
  • Glass and shattereable items are prohibited in the pool area.
  • Do not bring food, drink, gum, or tobacco into the pool.
  • No smoking or tobacco products anywhere in the Natatorium.
  • Diaper changing on the pool deck is prohibited.
  • Animals are prohibited in the pool area.
  • Activity deemed unsafe by the lifeguard will be prohibited.
Natatorium Diving Well
  • A lifeguard must be present before entering the water.
  • Do not enter the pool if you have a communicable disease or an open cut. 
  • Swimming in the Diving Well is prohibited while diving boards are platforms are in use.
  • Use of diving platforms is restricted to authorized users, under direct supervision of certified diving coaches or instructors.
  • Proficient swimming ability is required.
  • Goggles and other eyewear may not be worn while diving.
  • When the diving area is available for recreational use:
    • Only the center 1-meter springboard may be used.
    • All jumps and dives must be in the forward direction.
    • Back dives, inward dives, reverse dives, spins, handstands, and seat drops are prohibited.
    • Only one person on the diving board at a time.
    • Only one bounce per jump or dive is allowed.
    • Swim directly to the nearest ladder and exit the pool after each entry.
  • Activity deemed unsafe by the lifeguard will be prohibited.
